Okay, I know I've been a bit...absent....on LJ lately. *slaps wrist* I swear I will find the time to comment/review/etc. super soon but I really can't contain myself now!
I just got back from seeing the new Star Trek. Good god, I'm such a fangirl for that fandom!! I was dreading this movie. How could it possibly stand up to the previous movies? (Barring Voyage Home because I hate fucking whales...) But really? This *might* have surpassed Wrath of Kahn. Okay, tied Wrath of Kahn because that movie still rocks purely on principle. I spent the whole movie literally sitting on my hands in order to physically hold back my flailing and fangirly glee....ask

I fell asleep last night before I could update so I'll do the final two days now. Woohoo!
Day 7: I had the weekend off! My favorite aunt and uncle came into town. I went out to dinner with them, my mom and my grandma to get amazing Mexican and margaritas! Yum. We also bought my grandma her Sirius radio so she can listen to her basketball games since local providers don't feel the need to broadcast any of the good games. Plus, I got to wear my new outfit and it was super cute!
Day 8: It has been an awesome Lazy!Sunday. I've watched some television. I've read some more chapters in my ridiculously long, 830-page book (Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind. My first fantasy novel besides LotR but it's completely amazing!). I'm doing my laundry. And I'm pretty sure that I got caught up on my friends page which I've abandoned this week.
I really liked posting my happy thoughts for the last few days. Maybe I'll keep it up - it forces me to update...

After work I called my friend to see what she was up to on a Friday night. She had an extra ticket to see male strippers almost like Thunder from Down Under but less classy, more raunch. I said 'What the hell.' Who got a lap dance? Me. Woohoo for sweaty hot men dancing all up on me!

Really. Nothing quite made me happy today.
I couldn't sleep last night so I was really tired. I got ready (make up on and hair did) to go out and support my local 'tea party' as taxation, spending and government in general is getting ridiculous. However, I fell asleep on my bed and was even late to work!
It's my sister's birthday today but she's in South Korea. My family didn't really know what to do with themselves. Plus, I had to take her cat to the vet and get him put to sleep. She doesn't know yet, I'm really dreading telling her. We've had him for 12 years. He followed her home from school one day. He was really the only cat that loved me, he'd bother me all the time. He'd never be deterred from his spot on my lap no matter what. I'm kind of really sad about it.
It was overcast but only rained while I was sleeping - what a waste.
Lately, I dread going to work. I don't like the people I work with. They make my job and by extension my life a living hell. I need to get out and find something new.
There wasn't anything that made me really happy today, but nothing REALLY terrible either. I suppose the highlight of my day was that there will be one more week of my favorite dude on American Idol. Is that sad?

How haven't I been happy today? Really, that would be the more appropriate question as today has been exceptionally awesome.
- It's my day off so I slept in without feeling guilty.
- I went grocery shopping (a favorite of mine) and made a HUGE pot of delicious jambalaya! Yummy!
- I went shopping and got myself a chopper (kitchen utensil - what, what), a new outfit, a shirt for my sister's b-day present, and socks for my aunt's b-day present.
- Turned my boss down when she asked me to come in for a few hours. Sorry - plans. Plus, she's been mean. Ha ha!
- I had my favorite iced apple chai tea from Starbucks.
- Read another few chapters in the phenomenal book I'm reading.
- I went out and had an awesome dinner with my BFF,
kittystar . Seriously, delish. - She and I then checked out new cars.
- Drove around, solving the problems of Twilight, if not the world. - Check it, Twilight is causing more problems in the world...
- Had a cherry limeade from Sonic.
- And I'm watching Deadliest Catch on Discovery. Why am I so obsessed with this show? I love it so much.
Never fear,
Peace out, yo.

Today - I was happy that I got to sleep in. It was amazing. But now I have to go to sleep because I'm tired again.
I swear, tomorrow I will weed through my friends list and update all the things that I haven't kept up with. I swear. Really.

1. Post about something that made you happy today.
2. Repeat for eight days.
3. Tag eight people to do the same. (I'm only tagging six - I don't know that many people.)
I'm backlogging from yesterday for this because I fell asleep at 8pm. While that was AMAZING as I haven't been sleeping. The thing that made me most happy was that I fixed my bathroom sink all by myself! Like, plumbing stuff. I was raised with the philosophy that women don't do that kind of stuff - call a man. Well, no dude here - just me and my tool kit, thank you very much! So now I have fixed my bathroom sink by myself. And also rewired the cable throughout my whole basement after two different cable guys came out and had major Epic!fail-itis. I rock.

How fucking amazing is it that Friday Night Lights has been renewed for two more seasons? I'm so excited! Disappointed that I won't get to look at Taylor Kitsch every episode but still adore the show itself and am super excited to see what they do with two more years!

Here are some random things.
1. CSI: NY was fairly enjoyable tonight. I'm enjoying this new chick in Mac's life. I liked the tensions between Danny/everyone except Lindsay. Did anyone else find it weird that Danny is from a family of cops? Where the hell did that come from? And I <3 Adam. AJ Buckley played it well too. That tear at the end? Killer. Stab me in the heart, why don't you.
2. In a completely different direction, Obama might name Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius as the health secretary. Umm. WHAT? The person in that position will be charged with restructuring the healthcare system. Obama is aiming towards a very pricey, almost socialistic healthcare plan. I'm not in favor of most of the plan but really, this plan will require a large budget in our already shitty economy. This health secretary will be a big part of that. Have you heard about Kansas' budget crisis? They aren't even giving out their tax refunds; they are giving IOUs. Really, BO? You are going to charge this woman with the healthcare system of the entire nation when she can't even budget the state of Kansas properly? WTF?
3. Somedays I really love my job. Today was not one of those days. Today I only halfway loved it. At least I didn't hate it.
4. I'm very happy that Tatiana didn't get through on American Idol. (STFU, it's an addiction. I'm trying to work through it.) I'm also very glad Alexis Grace and Danny Gokey did.
5. I need to stop staying up until 4am to read a freaking book. Like it's not going to be there in the morning? And what am I doing reading all of these books anyway? But Vicki Lewis Thompson's "Nerd" series is hilarious!
6. I gave in and downloaded Lady Gaga's "Just Dance." It's just too damn catchy!

Hmm. Joss Whedon, I won't lie, you let me down just a little. I was expecting more.
However, I think I'll give it a chance because I DO love Harry Lennix and Tahmoh Penikett. I love both actors and their characters were the most intriguing - which makes me very happy.
I've never really been a fan of Eliza Dushku. She just always ... ... ... pisses me off, maybe? The tone of her voice gives me a facial tick. I suppose I'll try to overlook that in anticipation of Whedon-y goodness.
Although, I definitely thought the writing was subpar for a Joss Whedon episode. I was expecting more wit and less - boredom, really. I suppose it always takes me a little bit to get into one of his shows. So I'll stick with it. However, if it doesn't get a little more interesting I won't be inclined to tune in EVERY week. Just once in a while. Or when it comes out on DVD.

WARNING: POLITICAL RANT AHEAD!
If you don't want to hear my ramblings, I suggest moving on.
I'm not a happy camper. There's a lot happening right now that I simply don't agree with. I see myself as a Libertarian, realistically. In an ideal world, I would support minarchism, or a night watchman state. However, there is no chance of that ever happening.
This whole stimulus package has me very concerned. Do people understand the level of governmental expansion this will entail? Do we really want to trust our government with that? Really? Big government has never led to anything good.
Now, our elected officials have voted to make our government even more powerful. Does anyone else find this bill a little suspicious? I'm sorry Democratic leaders, no bill this large should be pushed through this quickly. Something this massive requires thought and deliberation. Has anyone even really looked at this plan? It totals $800 BILLION dollars. Only about $330 billion of that is spending to stimulate. Another $270 billion is for tax cuts and credits. However, the remaining $200 billion is pure pork for pet projects of leading Democrats!
I don't care what Chuck Schumer says. He's a Democratic senator from New York who made statements about how Americans don't really care about pork spending. I'm sorry, I'm an American and I take great offense to that. I think those little dips for pork are one of the things ruining this country. Although, maybe he's right! Maybe Americans are complacint with the amout of shit these idiots do with taxpayer money. Like the pork in this bill. Maybe it's okay that there is $30 million earmarked for saving the wetlands near San Francisco and all the little mice. That would be a pet project of Nancy Pelosi. Or the $8 BILLION Harry Reid just snuck in there for a rail system in Nevada. There is also some mention of millions of dollars going to buying golfcarts for people in some neighborhood to drive around in an effort against global warming. Wow. That will help.
I suppose most of my anger stems from the realization that no one cares. People need to care. People need to be more invested in what happens in their government. I will never understand people who don't care about politics. With the government the way it is, it touches EVERY part of our lives. I'm so tired of people complaining about the economy, taxes, abortion rights, anything, without at least putting in some effort to gain knowledge about these issues. Most people simply regergitate an agenda of someone they've heard: be it their parents, their friends, or the latest Hollywood star. People need to educate themselves about the issues. THAT'S a major issue in our country.
There will probably be more rants coming. I'm very pissed about things lately.

Seriously? That woman who had the eight freaking kids, who now has a total of 14, has started a website. It's "for the fans." I'm sorry. People should not be 'fans' and supportive of people who need to get mental help. She's accepting donations on her website. Really? Get a freaking job. And give away some of those kids. 14 kids just seems a little excessive. I don't care how 'lonely' your childhood was. Although, I suppose I'm not the best person to ask. I think someone having 3 kids is excessive.

That's it. I'm done watching sports. It never ends up in my favor.
I watched the Superbowl. Big freaking mistake. My Cards lost in the last freaking minute. And really, while the Steelers played a good game and it kept my interest? It was rigged. Everyone knows it. The Cards lost 100+ yards in penalties, the Steelers? Something like 56. And there were penalties left uncalled. I freaking hate referees. They are paid to make the game interesting, not honest.
And tonight? Celtics vs the Lakers. The Lakers took it in overtime. The last freaking minute. I'm sorry, I do NOT understand this Lakers love that everyone seems to have. I find Kobe Bryant disgusting. He's not even a good player! If he doesn't have other good players supporting him, he's shit!!! Don't believe me? Check out the 2004-2005 season. It was Kobe all by his lonesome and his enormous ego couldn't do shit. He's an asshole. And he should really check his attitude and bow down to Phil Jackson. He's who really deserves the credit for the Lakers winning streak. Oh, and those other people on the court wearing similar jerseys. Pau Gasol? Lamar Odom? Derek Fisher? Yes, Kobe, they help you. Quit glaring when someone makes a mistake.
I just don't understand why everyone loves Kobe "Jesus" Bryant? He's not that good. And he's a smug, arogant ass to boot. What is appealing about that? The game got over late due to overtime. When that happens and another game is already in progress, such a Jazz vs Mavericks, they switch over immediately and cut the post-game chatter. What did they do tonight? Put up Kobe dumb, smug face. Boo. He looks like a ungy snake. I wouldn't be surprised if a forked tongue came shooting out of his mouth. Oh no! Let's not miss getting Kobe some camera time. Who cares if there's a much more interesting game on! (That was sarcasm.)
